The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. DTES is striving to conform with WCAG 2.1 to Level AA by performing periodic reviews to ensure the website remains compliant.
We are in the process of improving the following elements on the website. The table below identifies the current areas of non-compliances to be fixed by Q3/Q4 2022.
WCAG Level AA Conformance: 90%
WCAG Level AAA Conformance: 100%
Is there sufficient contrast between the text and background?
We weren’t able to automatically detect the colour contrast ratio of text on this page.
Text that is too faint can cause problems for users who are colour blind or have low vision.
Is it clear which page element has focus from the keyboard?
Unable to check if there is a visible keyboard focus indicator.
Some internet users are physically unable to use a mouse — others may find it easier to navigate with a keyboard or keyboard alternative.
